Huawei Australia are offering undergraduates studying a technology/science related discipline the opportunity to travel to China on a three week work experience program from 24th November to 13th December, 2018

Seeds for the Future: China Experience is a global initiative which has been successfully operating since 2008, has been implemented in 96 countries worldwide and over 2,500 students have participated in the program.

Since 2013, Huawei Australia has provided over 75 Australian undergraduates with the opportunity to learn about China and to experience Huawei’s dynamic global business – an invaluable addition to any CV when looking for a job after graduation.

Participants spend an initial period in Beijing gaining Mandarin language training and learning more about Chinese culture at the Beijing Language and Cultural University; one of the best universities in Beijing. While there the group will also visit The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and the Great Wall of China. Students are then flown to Huawei’s Headquarters in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, where they learn about our international business culture and values and spend time learning about Huawei’s products and solutions.

At Huawei HQ, students also receive technical training from some of the finest professionals in the industry.

What Expenses Do Huawei Cover?

  • Return economy flights to China (includes domestic flights required as part of the program)
  • Accommodation in China
  • Ground transfers required as part of the program
  • VISA application costs
  • Meals

Application Criteria

To be considered for Huawei’s Seeds of the Future: China Experience programme students need to match the following criteria:

  • be an Australian citizen
  • be studying a STEM or related discipline
  • be a 3rd or 4th year undergraduate student
  • demonstrate excellent academic acumen – (transcript must be provided)
  • have a strong interest in telecoms and technology issues
  • are facinitated by the rise of Asia and are keen to get practical experience working for a dynamic global business
  • complete the application form
  • provide a submission that answers “Why science and technological innovation is essential for Australia’s future?” The submission can either be in writing up to 300 words and/or video of up to two minutes.
Please note:
  • Successful applicants will be expected to attend a briefing session prior to departure where they will have the opportunity to meet with others participating in the program. Huawei will cover the cost of flights/transport.
  • This is a non-salaried work experience programme and participation does not imply that employment is guaranteed following graduation.
  • A valid passport will be required for international travel.
